Victoria Beckham takes us on a military excursion with her SS15 collection, dodging the typical traits of the theme with ease and an air of seasoned confidence. No longer a new name on the block, her shows strengthen season by season and if her latest offering is anything to go by we can expect an added maturity to proceedings from here on out.

It's easier to see this collection not so much as a change of direction but as a change of pace - slowed down and as a result more carefully curated. Whilst still recognisably Victoria Beckham's own, this time she's eschewed some of her usual forthright glamour in favour of cool wearability. Case in point, the winklepickers in place of heels, a subtle manoeuvre which simply ensures silhouettes remain relaxed.

Print was also largely replaced with nostalgic safari tones, a notable exception being the stripes and a rather loud floral print. The palette further enhanced the military tone whilst setting the perfect background for what is sure to be a collection favourite - the bold leather belts that somehow weaved their way back inside the jackets.

All in all it looks as though Victoria's first store opening on London's Dover Street later this month could not have come at a better time, let's just hope those shoes make a swift appearance.
