Deep within the neo-gothic St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is a spa with a difference. Cavernous and quiet, a whitewashed tech-centred bubble this is not. The space housing the pool is a former steam kitchen, featuring exposed duct pipes, 19th-century tiles and a whole lot of marble. The treatment rooms are well-appointed ooze comfort.
For pretty much any woe we prescribe a brisk swim followed by a spell in the heady eucalyptus steam chamber. On to the relaxation room next where you’ll find cream sink-in loungers, stacks of reading material and changing blends of herbal tea before being marched off for your treatment. Dubbed a ‘ticket to tranquillity’, you’d struggle to find anywhere in the city that’s quite so serene. A journey for the senses by all means.
Top treatment: Leave stresses and strains in the lobby and book in for the hour-long Arrive and Revive. Muscles are soothed, skin is softened and you’ll leave feeling brand new. What more could you want?
What to pack: The book you’re reading.
