Dominated by a striking, pewter-topped bar, this Kit Kemp designed pit stop is housed within the Soho Hotel, just off Wardour Street. A curious mural harking back to the buildings former life as a garage hangs above the bar and a clash of amber and russet patterns adorn the soft furnishings. The regulars are sophisticated media types with an affinity for well-mixed drinks and a buzzy atmosphere (both of which can be found here) and it’s the kind of place you can easily while away an entire evening without as much as a thought.

There’s not a cocktail in the house that hasn’t been thought up by the staff themselves and the menu spans everything from tiramisu Martinis to courgette and spinach-packed detox concoctions. To soak up the booze there’s a great round up of small plates and mezzes - grilled halloumi with red pesto and crispy pork belly with honey mustard to name just a couple – but the hot smoked salmon sliders really steal the show. For post-work tipples or a hot date, Refuel gets it just right.
