Imposing and achingly handsome, this cream-hued country pile exudes elegance and does so with ease. The interiors are pretty in a grown up sort of way; light, fresh colours are offset by heavy oak doors, art adorns every wall and there’s just-cut flowers wherever you look. Set in leafy, manicured grounds, rural escapes don’t come much better than this, and there are Hunter wellies on hand if a ramble through the woodland takes your fancy. Foodies will feel right at home when tucking in at Hartnett, Holder & Co. - the seasonal British menu puts the spotlight on home cooking and there’s a pinch of Italian flair thrown in for good measure.

Bedroom wise, expect muted tones with pops of lime, great sash windows and plenty of space. Every detail is attended to - you’ll even return from dinner to find a tiny bottle of calming essential oils on your pillow. Bathrooms are light-flooded and stocked with dreamy Bamford products and for canine visitors, ribbon-wrapped treats await.

One thing not to be missed is the Herb House Spa. Spread across three floors and surrounded by greenery, there’s a mud house, outdoor hydrotherapy pool and a fabulous gym. Treatments come courtesy of Aromatherapy Associates, Voya and Bamford and when the sun shines you can head up to the rooftop herbary for a spot of alfresco yoga.
