Subtle, reticent and restrained. Julien Macdonald's latest collection all but slipped by without a mention... Okay, okay we're lying and everybody knows it - but what can we say? How else can we offer up a condensed insight into the overtly wild world of Julien Macdonald without quoting the masses?
The shows setting was as deservedly spectacular as one could hope for, The Royal Opera House. You may be forgiven for thinking that a fashion show may feel all but lost in such overwhelming surroundings, however as you should know - this was to be no ordinary show.
Out and out glamour, more-is-more and downright sexiness are of course the mainstays of Macdonalds brand, and they serve him well. One of the red carpet kings his SS15 collection is sure to feature heavily at award ceremonies and premieres.
Although the sequins and sparkle are beguiling by nature it's on closer inspection that the collection truly reveals the technique and consideration behind it. Cobweb-knits and recurring floral-appliqué perfectly compliment the feminine outlines and mellow palette.
It would be near impossible to choose a favourite look from the collection but our hearts would surely be drawn to one of the classic skater styles.
