Up on the first floor of London’s elegant but fun South Place Hotel is the Angler roof terrace; the city’s suntrap. With a minimalist design, pots of fresh herbs and olive trees and an upmarket crowd, this summer-perfect city haunt brings a little taste of Provence to Moorgate.
As well as an impressive wine list, the cocktail menu covers modern classics like the fresh tequila based Tommy’s Margarita, puts new twists on old school drinks like the rum Old Fashioned and part of it is dedicated to using fresh seasonal ingredients - take the No.10 for example which boasts just-picked blueberries and lavender. In the mood for bar snacks? The terrace is attached to the seafood-focused Michelin-starred Angler restaurant, so tuck in to small plates of fresh calamari, devilled whitebait and salt cod fish cakes.
Best seat in the house: Make sure you’re right on the edge of the terrace where you can soak up the sun until its final sinking moments.
Dress code: After-work city chic (oh and big sunglasses).
